Directed by nationally-recognized leaders in music education, EYSO ensembles have performed at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, the Ravinia Festival, the Illinois State Capitol, and on 98.7WFMT, Chicago’s classical music radio.
EYSO ensembles perform masterworks of the classical repertoire, challenging and inspiring their members to ever-higher levels of creativity, musicianship, and collaboration. The Brass Choir and Flute Choir provide opportunities each week for musicians of varying levels of experience to collaborate and learn from one another. Percussion Ensembles offer individual attention to percussionists of all skill levels, and the Chamber Music Institute gives young musicians the chance to lead, learn, and collaborate in a small-ensemble environment.
EYSO prides itself on offering each student the challenges, education, and community needed to thrive as a thoughtful musician and global citizen. It’s what we call “educating the whole musician”: preparing our students for a lifelong journey of inquiry, creativity, and growth.
EYSO Honors Chamber Ensembles offer an unparalleled opportunity for Youth Symphony students to play chamber music at the highest level and to work with some of the finest artist-educators and chamber music coaches in the nation. As the premier ensembles and ambassadors of EYSO, the Maud Powell String Quartet, Hanson String Quartet, Sterling Brass Quintet, and Earl Clemens Wind Quintet maintain active and high-profile performing schedules.
