The Brass Choir is one of EYSO’s proudest offerings, providing a unique ensemble experience for all Youth Symphony, Philharmonia, and Sinfonia brass players. Youth Symphony percussionists are also invited to participate as the repertoire allows. Brass Choir explores a wide range of specialized brass repertoire and techniques while providing an opportunity each week for players of varying skill levels and experience to collaborate and learn from one another.
Brass Choir performs in all three EYSO season concerts, as well as a special spring concert featuring a guest artist or chamber ensemble. The spring performance day also includes a public masterclass and collaborative performances. Previous guests include trumpeter Brandon Ridenour, Stephen Burns (Fulcrum Point New Music Project), GRAMMY Award-winning Eighth Blackbird, and most recently, The Millar Brass Ensemble.
Beginning in 2019, EYSO is proud to partner with the Chicago Brass Band to offer open rehearsals, sectional coaching, masterclasses, and side-by-side performance opportunities to our brass students. While our April 2020 concert was postponed due to the pandemic, we look forward to expanding our partnership in upcoming seasons.
Brass Choir is led by Dan Sartori.
Performs during the 4:30pm concerts in November, March, and May, and an additional feature concert in April.
