Whether you’re a seasoned music lover or just curious about orchestras, here’s what to expect and why you’ll love it.
What an Orchestra Experience Feels Like
Imagine hundreds of musicians coming together, each instrument contributing its voice to create something larger than the sum of its parts. The sound washes over you, sometimes gentle and lyrical, sometimes thrillingly powerful. You’ll feel the energy of young musicians, the emotion in the music, and the magic of being part of a live performance—all without needing any special knowledge or “inside” understanding of music.
Why You’ll Love It

Tips for Your First Visit
Arrive a little early. This gives you time to find your seat, peek at the program, and settle in.
Bring your curiosity. Watch the musicians, notice how the instruments interact, follow the conductor’s gestures, or just let it all wash over you.
Engage with the program notes. Our programs include helpful explanations, fun facts, history, and tips for what to listen for in each piece.
Relax and enjoy. There’s no wrong way to experience the orchestra—you can sit back, lean in, or even tap your foot along with the rhythm.

For instrumentalists from 4th grade to college, playing for 2 years or 12, EYSO aims to find a place for each student to grow in one of our five orchestras, specialty ensembles, and the one-of-a-kind Chamber Music Institute.
