Daniel Meyers
Daniel Meyers is a musician and administrator guided by the belief that the greatest music is created, and shared, together, in community. Whether as a performer, marketer, fundraiser, or leader, he continually strives to spark connections that draw people together, revealing the ways music unites us through the humanity we all share.
Daniel’s commitment to this mission was ignited as an undergraduate bass player in the St. Olaf College Orchestra, where he learned to prize collaborative music-making and expressive experiences equally with technical proficiency and historical fidelity. Inspired to dedicate his professional life to orchestral music, he went on to receive a master’s degree from the DePaul University School of Music and perform with ensembles including the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra (Minnesota), the LaCrosse Symphony (Wisconsin), the Elgin Symphony, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
At the EYSO, Daniel has found an organization that shares his own vision and values. Joining in the fall of 2024, he is eager to explore new ways of promoting not just the great music and high-quality instruction of the EYSO, but the unique EYSO experience created through CMP (Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance) pedagogy, expanding and growing the ensembles and the community that surrounds the EYSO.
Daniel’s administrative work began in marketing at the University of Chicago Presents and Department of Music. Before joining the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, he led fundraising for the Lakes Area Music Festival in Northern Minnesota. He also has experience managing annual giving in the health and human services sector at the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota. He is a close follower of Clayton Christensen’s “jobs-to-be-done" marketing framework and its application in the arts through consultant Ruth Hartt, and he strives to apply Aubrey Bergauer’s “Run It Like A Business” flywheel methodology in his management work.
