Flute Choir
EYSO’s newest ensemble, Flute Choir, stemmed from the incredibly high level of flute playing during auditions. Flute players in Sinfonia and Philharmonia are automatically enrolled in Flute Choir, as well as interested students not yet playing in an EYSO orchestra. Together, they explore a wide range of specialized flute repertoire and techniques while providing an opportunity each week for players of varying skill levels and experience to collaborate and learn from
one another.
In addition to exploring flute choir repertoire, a focus is placed on ensemble and individual playing skills: intonation, blending, balancing parts, and using proper flute technique. Students also have the opportunity to practice and perform on the extended flute family, including piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute.
Flute Choir is led by Ruth Cavanaugh.
