The EYSO Difference
The Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestras have a national reputation for providing not only an engaging musical experience for its students, but also a comprehensive learning environment which promotes curiosity, imagination, critical thinking, and collaboration. With six large ensembles, three small ensembles, and a thriving Chamber Music Institute, EYSO auditions record numbers of students each year in addition to the hundreds of musicians who already enjoy its rigorous methods of inquiry and "expert noticing."
2021-22 Season

What happens when you turn things upside down?
New meanings, amazing possibilities, and alternative realities reveal themselves, showing different ways to make sense
of the world around us. Artists, philosophers, and visionaries know that a changed perspective can make a world of
difference, a little push can go a long way—and when we throw out the rulebook, anything can happen…
2020-21 Season

Stories, fairy tales, myths, and legends: these are how we
make sense of the world around us. In EYSO’s 45th season,
explore these myths and legends through music as we build
connections between ourselves and the wider world.
2019-20 Season

Drawing on the rich traditions of ballet, folk dance,
and Dalcroze, EYSO’s 44th season explores music
and movement, featuring collaborations with
Joffrey Ballet artist Luis Vazquez and Elgin’s
own Ballet Folkórico Huehuecoyotl (BFH).
